Groat: Voice Expense Tracker
Say what you spent and Groat files it. No accounts, no bank linking.
Groat is for the moment you’re standing at the counter with a receipt in one hand. Hold the button and say it the way you’d say it out loud (“forty bucks of lumber for the Henderson deck”) and Groat turns that into a row: amount, category, job, date.
Or type it, or fill the form in yourself. All three go to the same place. There is nothing to sign up for, and Groat never asks for banking credentials.
Who it’s for: anyone who wants an expense logged before they forget it, without opening a spreadsheet.
At most one reminder a day, and never between 10pm and 8am.
What's inside
- No account and no bank linking. There is nothing to sign up for, and Groat cannot read your transactions.
- Your voice stays on your phone. Speech becomes text on the device, and the audio is never recorded, uploaded or stored.
- Say it, type it, or fill the form. All three end up in the same place.
- Anything it cannot read, it keeps. An unparsed line is saved exactly as you said it, not thrown away or guessed at.
- Free and Pro. Free gives you 20 entries a month, parsed on your own phone. Pro sends the sentence to be parsed for amount, category, vendor, job and date.
Questions
Does Groat link to my bank?
No. There's nothing to sign up for. Groat never asks for banking credentials and cannot read your transactions.
Is my voice recorded?
No. Speech is turned into text by your phone's own recognition. The audio is never recorded, uploaded or stored by Groat.
What happens to an expense Groat can't parse?
It's saved exactly as you said it, not thrown away or guessed at. You can retry it later.
What does Pro add?
Pro sends the words you spoke or typed to be parsed, so the amount, currency, category, vendor, job and date come back filled in, plus unlimited entries, receipt photos, unlimited CSV exports, and a monthly breakdown by category and job.
